Job Description

We are looking for volunteers to provide community and social support for ex-prisoners and their whanau in Hastings and/or Napier. 

You will work alongside another volunteer and provide social support for ex-prisoners experiencing isolation.  

We are looking for people who have approx 2-4 hours to give every week or fortnight, especially those are available during normal business hours.

We would love to hear from you if you have some, or all, of the following attributes: 

  • Empathetic, open-minded and accepting 

  • A good listener 

  • Calm under pressure 

  • Able to adhere to boundaries 

  • Flexibility 

  • Knowledge of the Hawke’s Bay community services and facilities 

  • Have previously worked in social services, or have experienced the criminal justice system, either personally or alongside whanau 

  • Able to complete basic documentation of your work  

PARS provides full training. Car drivers licence and mobile phone required.

Vetting is required but previous convictions can be discussed.
