CAB is a champion of people’s rights. As a CAB volunteer you will contribute to educating and empowering people, fostering positive change and making a meaningful impact in the Ōtepoti Dunedin community.

The CAB supports clients by providing information and advice on a wide range of issues such as; residential tenancy rights,  consumer rights, immigration, employment rights & work conditions, neighbourhood issues, fences and separation.

The CAB provides a free service that is trustworthy, independent, and confidential. Clients can contact the CAB in a range of ways including phone, in person and email through our website.

CAB is there for everyone. It is a safe and easy entry point for people in the community to access someone who can help. CAB has the time to listen and talk through issues, which are then researched and investigated on the CAB online knowledge database which is current and factual. Clients are then given options for resolving their issues and advised how to take the next steps.

Volunteers need no previous experience! CAB supports new volunteers through a training and induction programme. We welcome and are inclusive of everyone.

You will need to be a confident oral and written communicator in English. You will need to be able to welcome and reach out to people from a wide range of backgrounds with respect.

Computer skills are also required so you can search the CAB database for the correct information and advice.
