NYDS - Taiohi Whakaari ā-Motu (National Youth Drama School) is a Performing Arts school which runs annually over eight days. It attracts up to 265 14 - 19yo rangatahi from Cape Reinga to the Bluff, drawing them to the city of Hastings, Hawkes Bay. Over the week, NYDS employs over 50 staff and engages the local community as volunteers, supporters and participants. It was established in 1991, making it one of the most established Performing Arts teaching spaces for rangatahi and tutors in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
