Medical Sexual Assault Clinicians Aotearoa (medsac) is the acknowledged New Zealand expert body in sexual assault/abuse and non-fatal strangulation/suffocation medicine. It is recognised as such by the Ministry of Health, Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and New Zealand Police, as well as by the Health and Disability Commissioner and international bodies such as the World Health Organisation.
We are an incorporated society and registered charity with over 450 expert clinician and allied professional members.
Our ambition is that people in Aotearoa New Zealand have equitable access to appropriate and high-quality health care in the fields of sexual assault/abuse and non-fatal strangulation and suffocation. We work to achieve this by providing education, accreditation, peer support, expert advice and resources for doctors and nurses providing medical and forensic care to those affected by sexual assault/abuse and non-fatal strangulation and suffocation.
