The Hauraki Coromandel holds a special place in the hearts and minds of many. For some, childhood summers at the family bach planted the first seeds of multi-generational connection. For others, it is home and always will be. Our reasons for treasuring this special region are many and varied, but our fond connection is universal.
Established in 2017, Predator Free Hauraki Coromandel Community Trust has an ambitious goal to help scale and link conservation efforts across 286,000 ha from Moehau to Te Aroha, including 400kms of coastline and 600 islands | rock stacks.
By investing in natural, human, and social capital across our 286,000-ha landscape scale project, our aim is to foster green growth and enrich the social, cultural and economic wellbeing of the Hauraki Coromandel through greater access to a more resilient and healthier natural environment.
We ultimately want to be part of the audacious Predator Free 2050 Limited vision of ridding Aotearoa of three major pests, possums, rats & mustelids (ferrets, stoats & weasels) as this will help preserve for generations the biodiversity of the environment we all value so much, from the mountains to the sea.
