OneCoast is a registered charity whose aim is to reduce useful materials going to landfill and to provide workshops and information to our community, aimed at helping people reduce waste.
We worked with the Dunedin City Council to have the use of a platform at the Waikouaiti Transfer Station where we now have four containers. We also have an office in the Events Centre in the main street of Waikouaiti.
We accept second-hand items (in good condition), which are inspected, sorted and offered either for sale at a low price or made available free to our community.
We are committed to supporting our community towards zero waste. We aim to do this by:
Establishing and managing a community resource recovery centre;
Encouraging practices to increase waste minimisation and decrease reliance on fossil fuels;
Supporting and enabling localisation of goods, resources and labour;
Promoting activities that enhance our local environment;
Offering education and advice on matters pertaining to zero waste and waste minimisation.
