Good Bitches Baking (GBB) is a nationwide for-purpose organisation that spreads kindness in the community through the mechanism of home-baking. Our dream is that all people in Aotearoa New Zealand who are having a tough time feel supported and valued, whatever their circumstances. We believe that everyone deserves treats and that kindness benefits everyone involved, rippling through the community.
We have about 3,400 Good Bitches in 30 chapters from Whangārei to Invercargill who bake treats in their own kitchens for distribution to about 570 recipient organisations that support local people in their communities having some kind of a tough time.
We were founded a decade ago and are very much on a growth trajectory – but in a carefully measured way – which means there’s a lot needed to keep the ovens on and the beaters beating. We want to maximise the spread of kindness through our communities but also ensure that the ‘moment of sweetness’ doesn’t become unmanageable for our recipients or stop being fun for our volunteers, and that everyone has a consistently excellent experience when they come into contact with GBB.
