Age Concern Auckland is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the wellbeing, rights, and dignity of older people across Auckland. Serving those aged 65 and over, it provides a wide range of services to help seniors live independently, stay connected, and age with confidence.
Founded in 1949, Age Concern Auckland works across the greater Auckland region and is one of the largest providers of specialist support for older people in New Zealand, responding to thousands of referrals and requests for support annually.
The organisation focuses on four key service areas:
1. Intervention Services – addressing elder abuse, neglect, and welfare concerns.
2. Ageing Well Services – promoting health, safety, and independence through wellbeing programmes.
3. Social Connection Services – mitigating the detrimental impacts of loneliness and isolation.
4. Ethnic Communities Service – providing culturally tailored support in multiple languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, and Hindi.
Through advocacy, education, and direct support, Age Concern Auckland strives to build an age-friendly society where all older people are valued, respected, and empowered to lead fulfilling lives.
