Crooked Vege Ōtaki is a non-profit market garden with a focus on addressing the deeply woven intersections of food security, climate change, environmental health and community health. Drawing upon years of successful experience in regeneratively and organically managed market gardens, we recognised the troubling inaccessibility of our grown kai to all whānau. This drove us to establish Crooked Vege, a social enterprise venture dedicated to cultivating nutritious kai that is accessible to all. We started with an empty field in March 2023 on the corner of Trinity Farm out the back of Ōtaki, tucked into the foothills of Waitohu Valley.
