Our mission is to redesign the economy of Aotearoa New Zealand around the wellbeing of our people and te taiao.
WEAll Aotearoa New Zealand is a registered charity and Te-Tiriti-led, non-partisan, people-powered movement to transform the economic system to a Wellbeing Economy.
We are part of the Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll) the leading global collaboration that brings together organisations, individuals and governments to transform the economic system into one that prioritises dignity, purpose, nature, fairness and participation.
We define a Wellbeing Economy as an economy designed to serve people and the planet, not the other way around. Rather than treating economic growth as an end in and of itself and pursuing it at all costs, a Wellbeing Economy puts our human and planetary needs at the centre of its activities, ensuring that these needs are all equally met, by default.
Wellbeing Economy approaches encourage a greater purpose than just growth: preventing environmental and social damage from occurring in the first place; increasing community resilience in managing shocks; asking the economy to do more of the pre-distribution of resources and opportunities; incorporating greater public participation; and centre on people and place.
In Aotearoa we work in a non-partisan way to reshape our economic system through:
sharing and creating new knowledge and policy to influence change,
spreading and amplifying powerful narratives of hope to change the debate and inspire New Zealanders from all walks of life,
strengthening and connecting existing mahi to build a movement for a Wellbeing Economy.
Advocating for Wellbeing Economy tools such as Community Wealth Building, participatory approaches, intergenerational thinking and for-purpose business.
