Our eight CMA centres welcome older adults weekly, offering social activities, games, and exercises designed to foster friendship and alleviate loneliness. Our centres are a lifeline for an often forgotten demographic, helping members maintain their well-being and feel connected. Transportation is provided for those who need it to feel included. This invaluable support is made possible by the dedication and kindness of over 50 CMA volunteers, and local community grants.
Loneliness and social isolation in older adults are heartbreaking realities that significantly increase the risk of depression, cognitive decline, dementia and long-term illness. North Shore CMA works tirelessly to alleviate feelings of loneliness by offering friendship centres that foster inclusion and provide much-needed respite care for families and caregivers. The dedication of our team helps ensure that our older adults remain connected, supported, and cherished.
For many of our members, the weekly visit to a CMA centre is their only social contact. Knowing we can help with their wellbeing is heartwarming. Approximately 130-160 people benefit from CMA’s activities every week.
