Transition Towns Lower Hutt is a not-for-profit Incorporated Society whose mission is to help build a resilient local community in the face of the multiple challenges created by over-consumption and their consequent environmental and social impacts.
It is holding administering funds for the Lower Hutt Climate Action Pathways group, a voluntary group who were involved in developing, with Lower Hutt communities, an overall plan for Lower Hutt's responses to these challenges, in particular but not confined to reducing direct and indirect carbon emissions. This plan was published in March 2022, and is now being updated and used on a regular basis to support increased climate action in Lower Hutt.
