Lawyers for Climate Action NZ Inc

Founded in 2019, Lawyers for Climate Action New Zealand is a registered charity and incorporated society with over 350 members from across Aotearoa New Zealand. We use the law to drive more effective action on climate change. Our members include some of New Zealand’s most senior lawyers, including King’s Counsel, barristers, solicitors, and legal academics.

We work collaboratively with other organisations and experts, and seek to use and influence the law by:

  1. Bringing and supporting strategic climate litigation

  2. Shaping the development of more effective climate laws and policies

  3. Empowering communities by bringing pro bono legal muscle to climate action

  4. Educating and connecting lawyers, with the ultimate aim of building a community of climate-conscious lawyers.
